New Reservation Line Told for Campsites

The U. S. Forest Service has a new phone number for reserving spaces at campgrounds, including two in Ventura County’s backcountry, officials announced recently.
Individuals and groups can reserve camping sites by calling (800) 280-CAMP or (800) 879-4496 for the hearing-impaired.
The numbers replace reservation phone lines, officials said this week.
Operators will take reservation requests for Wheeler Gorge and McGill campgrounds in Los Padres National Forest north of Ojai, as well as at 154 other camping sites across the country.
The reservation center will tell callers which campgrounds are available for advance reservations, officials said.
