A Bellflower High School teacher has been honored for his efforts to incorporate the arts into academic study.
Linwood Thompson, a history and speech teacher, was named one of 11 finalists for the Bravo Award by the Music Center of Los Angeles. Thompson, an educator for 14 years, incorporates such activities as role playing, storytelling, script writing, exploring Shakespeare, stagecraft, costuming, painting and video production into his daily instruction.
There were two winners: Manhattan Beach resident Darnella Davidson, a teacher at Los Angeles High School, and Dilip Saxena of Riverside, who teaches at Washington Elementary School in Norco.
