OUTLOOK
Before any predictions, Elliott wants to make it clear Troy will be great, Sonora and Fullerton should battle for first and La Habra will be improved. Now, moving on to his team. Like Buena Park, the Lancers will feature several new faces this season. And like the Coyotes, Sunny Hills has lost some key players to graduation. Six starters are gone, which for any team is a big loss. But every team has to go through a rebuilding stage, and this time it’s Sunny Hills’ turn. But Elliott isn’t pulling out his hair. The Lancers have some good returning players in juniors Hochgesang at shortstop, Monson at second base and senior Wescott, who is moving from outfield to play third base. On paper, the Lancers shouldn’t be as far removed from the race as Elliott makes it sound, and with senior pitcher Herrera back, this could also be a important factor in giving the Lancers strength at a position which for now is an unknown.
