VAN NUYS : Man Gets Year in 5th Drunk-Driving Case

A Van Nuys man convicted of drunk driving for the fifth time in nine years was sentenced to a year in jail Thursday, according to the Los Angeles city attorney’s office.
Jose de Carmen Flores, 33, was also placed on three years probation after pleading guilty to driving drunk with prior convictions and driving on a suspended license, according to Deputy City Atty. Debra Siedorf, who handled the case.
Flores was arrested by Los Angeles police in Van Nuys about 2 a.m. Feb. 13 after they found him in his car, which was parked with the motor running in an eastbound traffic lane of Sherman Way near Van Nuys Boulevard. His blood-alcohol level was .13. The legal limit is .08.
