Northridge Rolls Past UCSD, Stretches Volleyball Streak to 4

NORTHRIDGE — Peter Piexoto had 14 kills and Oliver Heitmann added seven as Cal State Northridge defeated UC San Diego, 15-5, 15-8, 15-3, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men’s volleyball match Friday night.
The victory was the fourth in a row for the Matadors (14-8, 10-6 in conference play) and their sixth in the last seven matches.
Piexoto, a junior outside hitter from Soquel High near Santa Cruz, had a .571 hitting percentage, with Heitmann at .636 and Jason Hughes (six kills) at .556. Northridge hit .366 as a team, including a .393 mark in the final game.
Collin Smith, who had five kills, led the Matadors with nine digs and four blocks.
Tyson Kerr had 10 kills for UC San Diego (2-19, 0-15).
