SIMI VALLEY : Warehouse Owner Gets $5,600 Tax Break

A wholesale compact disc and music video distributor that recently bought a $1.3-million Simi Valley warehouse has been granted a $5,600 tax break by the city.
The City Council agreed to grant Pacific Coast One-Stop the assistance, usually reserved for new construction projects, because the company is making $500,000 in improvements to the property.
City Manager Lin Koester urged the council to approve the tax reduction, pointing out that the warehouse Pacific Coast bought at 45 W. Easy St. has been a constant headache for the city.
The site is the former home of Travelin’ West Textiles, a dyeing facility that had a long history of waste-water violations, illegally disgorging up to 500,000 gallons of polluted water each day for more than a decade before closing in 1989.
“That site has been a problem site and we’re actually very thankful that Pacific Coast is going ahead with this,” Koester said.
The council agreed, unanimously approving the tax break.
