For the second consecutive night, rain forced the cancellation of racing at Ventura Raceway.
Saturday night’s SCRA sprint car opener was called off by track management 45 minutes before the scheduled 7 p.m. start when a light drizzle became a downpour.
It was only the third rainout in seven years at the 5/16-mile clay oval, the first coming last June, the second coming Friday night.
Friday’s stock car program may be made up, but there are no plans to reschedule the sprint car program.

A threat of rain forced postponement of the Sportsman Championship Series at Saugus Speedway for the second time in three weeks.
Despite an apparent clearing in the storm, track officials postponed the races based on weather reports, and did so shortly after a car driven by sportsman Marty Stowell of Canyon Country collided with the wall in Turn 1 during qualifying.
