HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : Parque Fits Crescenta Valley for Tie

Jim Parque pitched a five-hitter and struck out 15 as Crescenta Valley High defeated Hoover, 10-2, Tuesday in a Pacific League game, clinching a tie for its first baseball title since 1980.
The Falcons (15-5, 12-2 in league play) can win the title outright by beating Glendale on Thursday. Parque (10-2), a left-handed senior, pitched his seventh complete game. Kirk Hagge and John French each had two hits and drove in two runs.
Rio Mesa 5, Santa Barbara 4--Rio Mesa (18-5, 11-2) clinched the Channel League championship, its fourth in five years and seventh in 10. Steve Arneson drove in two runs with a single in the fourth and Vince Roman drove in the decisive run with a double in the fifth.
Palmdale 6, Quartz Hill 2--David Glick (9-2) pitched a seven-hitter--his eighth complete game of the season--and struck out seven for host Palmdale (17-6, 10-4) in the Golden League game.
Kennedy 12, Granada Hills 3--Kenny Bernas had a double, triple and three RBIs for Kennedy (12-9, 7-6) in a North Valley League game.
Saugus 11, Burbank 2--Brandon Hernandez pitched five shutout innings for the Centurions (15-7-1, 7-4) in a Foothill League game.
Ventura 4, Oxnard 4--Ventura left 17 runners on base and Oxnard stranded 12 in a Channel league game called after 12 innings.
Antelope Valley 10, Burroughs Ridgecrest 9--Derrick Ford and James Juneau hit run-scoring singles with two out in the seventh to give the Antelopes (10-9, 9-4) a Golden League victory.
Hueneme 14, Dos Pueblos 11--Mike Bush capped a six-run fifth inning with a three-run triple, putting Hueneme (11-14, 5-8) ahead in a Channel League game.
SOFTBALL
Sylmar 2, Kennedy 0--Cherise Espinosa (10-8) pitched a four-hitter for Sylmar (11-8) in a City Section 4-A Division quarterfinal.
El Camino Real 1, Granada Hills 0--Jennifer Gould pitched a two-hitter and drove in the run in a City 4-A quarterfinal.
Saugus 3, Burbank 2--Chris Gill’s run-scoring single in the bottom of the seventh gave the Centurions (23-2-1, 10-0-1) a the Foothill League championship.
BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL
Van Nuys d. Franklin, 15-5, 7-15, 15-12, 15-11--Bryan Oey made 16 kills and Ricardo Hernandez added 21 assists for host Van Nuys (15-2) in a City 3-A semifinal match. The Wolves will face Marshall in the final at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Cal State Northridge.
