In an effort to bring more attention to its accomplishments, Anaheim has issued its first progress report, trumpeting 100 achievements of city government during fiscal 1993-94.
The City Council unanimously approved the 31-page document Tuesday, praising a host of city staff members for their work.
“It’s heartening to see the progress made by the various city departments,” Mayor Tom Daly said. “Perhaps it can be a springboard for the next wave of progress.”
In a year marked by Ram executives’ announcement that the team might leave Anaheim, the city touted the opening of The Pond of Anaheim, the hiring of a new police chief and the finalization of the Disneyland Resort Specific Plan as noteworthy successes.
Other self-congratulatory items included: opening a downtown telecenter, removing scores of old toilets and installing water-saving ultra-low-flush devices, and improving relations with federal authorities.
In the report, City Manager James D. Ruth said citizens should not overlook the everyday accomplishments by city workers.
“These daily victories, such as a librarian helping a citizen obtain a hard-to-find book, a utility worker turning on water and electric service for a new resident or a police officer protecting a family from burglary, are the cornerstones to the continued success and vitality of the city of Anaheim,” Ruth wrote.
