The first 114 graduates from the California Academy of Mathematics and Science will be addressed by Gov. Pete Wilson at a ceremony Saturday.
Since 1990, the innovative high school has selected students from eight school districts to attend classes on the campus of Cal State Dominguez Hills in Carson. The school, which is funded from public and private sources, specializes in preparing women and minorities for careers in mathematics and science.
In addition to Wilson, several students and Robert C. Detweiler, president of the university, will speak at the ceremony.
The graduation begins at 9:30 a.m. in the university gymnasium.
