Digital in Talks to Sell Part of Business: Digital Equipment Corp. said Milpitas, Calif.-based Quantum Corp. may acquire a portion of its computer storage business. It said the discussions involve the following units: magnetic disk, digital linear tape drive, solid-state disk drive and thin-film heads. Digital said its storage subsystems and video and interactive information services businesses are not involved. The terms being discussed were not disclosed. Maynard, Mass.-based Digital, the nation’s third-largest computer maker, recently began carrying out a massive reorganization plan.
