NORTH HILLS : 11 Area Veterans in Wheelchair Games

More than 550 disabled veterans turned wheelchair athletes, including 11 from the Sepulveda Veterans Administration Hospital in North Hills, are competing this week at the 14th National Veterans Wheelchair Games in Kansas City.
They are participating in events such as wheelchair races, swimming, basketball, rugby for quadriplegics, weightlifting, tennis and archery.
Among those representing the Valley VA hospital are John Catuna of Chatsworth, a Vietnam War veteran who is competing for the first time in archery, and Joe Hamilton, a 28-year-old paraplegic who is nationally ranked in the wheelchair marathon.
