OPERATION SPARKLE
The Office of the Mayor, in conjunction with the Los Angeles Police Department, is coordinating a series of events in October aimed at getting people out of their homes on weekends to clean up Los Angeles.
One of the most extensive community cleanup efforts ever mounted by the city, Operation Sparkle is co-chaired by Mayor Richard Riordan and Police Chief Willie Williams, with more than 120 senior lead officers in the LAPD’s Community Policing Department participating.
Operation Sparkle will take place each Saturday during October in four different parts of the city, culminating in a festival held in the parking lot of the L.A. Zoo. Here is the schedule:
