Beckman Instruments Inc.: The Fullerton laboratory products company reported a profit of $13 million, or 46 cents a share, for the second quarter. That was up 11% from earnings of $11.7 million, or 42 cents a share, for the same period a year earlier. Sales were up slightly to $222.2 million from $221.8 million. For the first half of 1994, the company posted a profit of $17.7 million, or 63 cents a share, which included charges of $1.5 million for restructuring and $5.1 million for an accounting change. That compared to a profit of $17.9 million, or 64 cents a share, for the first six months of 1993, which included a $4-million charge for an accounting change. Six-month sales dropped slightly to $420.8 million from $423.5 million.
