On Assignment’s Revenue, Profit Hike in 2nd Quarter

On Assignment Inc., a Calabasas provider of temporary laboratory personnel, reported gains in its second-quarter profit and revenue, which it said reflected a record number of employees on temporary assignment and increased productivity.
The company’s net income in the quarter ended June 30 was $894,000, a 37% increase from $610,000 in earnings a year earlier. Its quarterly revenue rose 29%, to $12.3 million from $9.59 million.
For the six months, On Assignment earnings grew 31% to $1.47 million, while revenue was up 23%, to $22.7 million. In the first half of 1993, it earned $1.13 million on $18.5 million in revenue.
