Amgen Inc., a Thousand Oaks-based biotechnology company, reported net income of $107.5 million for the second quarter ended June 30, a 7% rise from the $100.2 million in profit the company reported for the same quarter a year ago.
Revenue in the recent quarter rose 21% to $415 million from the $343 million in revenue the company reported for the second quarter last year.
For the six months ended June 30, Amgen reported net income of $200.9 million on revenue of $779 million, compared to the $189.5-million profit the company earned on revenue of $653 million for the first six months of 1993.
The company attributed much of the recent growth to the continued success of its two blood cell-producing drugs, Epogen and Neupogen.
