Duesler Wins at Hardcourt Event

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Bob Duesler of Newport Beach beat George Powers of Huntington Beach in the third round of the men’s 55 division of the U.S. Tennis Assn. men’s national hardcourt championships Wednesday at the Lindborg Club.
Duesler won, 6-3, 6-3. Also in the 55 division: Lenny Lindborg of Laguna Beach beat Neil Johnson of Fairfax, Va., 6-2, 6-0, and Jim Nelson of Newport Beach beat Jack Allen of La Jolla, 6-1, 6-0.
In the men’s 50 division, Woody Brooks of Monarch Beach defeated Rudy Jones of Salinas, 6-1, 6-1.
