IRVINE — A major medical-products maker plans to consolidate four Southern California facilities into a single 100,000-square-foot office, factory and research center in Irvine, the company’s architect said Monday.
Mallinckrodt Medical Inc. plans to relocate workers and equipment from plants in Irvine, Santa Ana and Carlsbad when the new facility is completed at year’s end. About 470 people are employed at the company’s four sites. Most of those jobs will be moved to the new plant, a company spokesman said.
Irvine-based Snyder Langston Real Estate and Construction Services and McGraw-Baldwin Architects of San Diego will team up to design and build the new Mallinckrodt plant in an empty building at 18691 Jamboree Road, Irvine.
Mallinckrodt Medical is a manufacturer of tracheotomy tubes and shut-off valves for medical tubing. It is a subsidiary of Mallinckrodt Group, a St. Louis-based specialty medical company.
Irvine-based Snyder Langston will operate as program manager and general contractor.
