NEWPORT BEACH — A 21-year-old Huntington Beach man was seriously injured early Thursday when he toppled backward out a second-story window, police said.
Christopher Todd had been out drinking with friends in Newport Beach on Wednesday night, Sgt. Andy Gonis said. After stops at Snug Harbor and Margaritaville, Todd purchased beer from a convenience store and returned to a friend’s second-floor apartment in the 200 block of 33rd Street.
About 1:45 a.m., Todd “was walking inside the residence and leaned back and fell out the window” to the sidewalk below, Gonis said. The window was open, and he went through a screen. Tests indicated that Todd was legally drunk, Gonis said.
The young man was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where he was reported in serious condition, police said.
