Police are asking the public to help identify a dead woman whose body was found on fire near the Foothill Freeway in Tujunga, LAPD Foothill Division Detective Marv Whiting said.
The woman, believed to be in her mid-20s, was discovered by passersby in the late evening of Sunday, Aug. 7 in a remote area near La Tuna Canyon Road, according to Homicide Detective Keith Honore of Foothill Division. Police believe she was dead at the time she was set afire, Whiting said.
She was either Latina or Caucasian, 5-foot-6 and 135 pounds, and had black hair and brown eyes.
Although the incident is under investigation as a homicide, the coroner’s office has not determined whether the woman was slain, Whiting said.
Anyone with information should call Whiting at (818) 834-3105.
