KOREATOWN : Armored Truck Guards Kill Robber, Police Say
- Share via
An armed man was fatally wounded Monday while allegedly trying to rob three armored truck guards near a Bank of America branch in Koreatown, police said.
The man wounded in the 8:26 a.m. shooting at Olympic Boulevard and Western Avenue died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, said Los Angeles Police Lt. Ken Lady.
Three Loomis armored truck guards had just made a delivery to the bank and were returning to their truck when the gunman walked toward a nearby bus bench and stopped, Lady said.
As the guards got close to the man, whose identity was not released pending notification of next of kin, he pulled a revolver from his waistband and pointed it at them, Lady said. Two of the guards then opened fire, wounding the gunman.
Police questioned a man seen running from the scene, but he was released. They said the slain robber apparently acted alone.
