Children and their families are invited to attend a community potluck today at El Centro-Lions Park.
The potluck, which takes place from noon to 6 p.m., will highlight several speakers from the city who will deliver messages encouraging youths to succeed in school and in life.
Speakers will include community volunteers, tutors, teachers and representatives from the local Boys & Girls Club, Boy and Girl Scouts troops and a veterans post.
Activities will include sack races, egg tosses and other park games.
Rose Espinoza’s garage tutoring program, MAS (Motivating Adolescents to Succeed), will provide notebooks for students attending school in the fall.
In addition, an antique car club will display about 23 antique automobiles and Aztec dancers will perform.
About 150 people are expected to attend the event at the park, which is on Cypress Street just north of La Habra Boulevard.
