Co-Coaches: Tom Weber (20th year), John Ahern (14th year).
1993: Southern Section Division II-A champions; Century League runners-up; eighth at CIF State Division II finals; 10th at Orange County Championships.
Key returners: Heidi Bogue, So.; Katie Kennedy, So.; Heather Kublin, Sr.; Hope Morello, Sr.; Kaylee Whitfield, Jr.; Tara Whitfield, Sr.
Key newcomers: Leslie Burton, Fr.; Jessica Dahlberg, Fr.; Kim Lacher, Fr.; Ginny Skogman, Fr.; Megan Weber, Fr.
Outlook: The Vanguards won the Southern Section Division II-A title last year, but remained relatively anonymous throughout the regular season. This fall will mark their emergence in a big way, with the strongest freshman class of any school in the county combined with a talented group of returning runners. Five new faces for the Vanguards will assist co-coaches Weber and Ahern. Tara Whitfield finished 10th at the State Division II finals last fall, and Kennedy and Kaylee Whitfield were fifth and 10th, respectively, at the Century League finals. Dahlberg and Burton appear to be the standouts among the incoming freshmen.
