Public service: Charges of Gender Bias Against Pasadena’s City Attorney
- Share via
Victor Kaleta, who was forced into retirement from his post as city attorney of Pasadena, called me to inform me (as president of the National Institute of Municipal Law Officers, i.e. city attorneys) of his current situation. I am astounded!
I have known Vic Kaleta for nine years. He is a gentleman of prudence, fortitude, temperance and absolute competence. As a longtime member of the board of directors of our group, Mr. Kaleta has championed every feminist cause to come before us. For Mr. Kaleta to be guilty of gender bias is so out of character for him that it is simply not believable.
The good people of Pasadena are like all fair-minded Americans and won’t be fooled for long. There must be a special punishment awaiting those who would gratuitously trash a man’s good name and public reputation.
Given that I live on the opposite coast, I doubt I will ever meet any of Vic’s vilifiers, which is just fine by me.
