Moorpark 29, Fillmore 28--Bryan Wilkins scored on a five-yard run and added a two-point conversion run with 2 minutes 47 seconds to play to give Moorpark (2-0) the victory at Fillmore.
Wilkins, a senior, rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns in 18 carries.
Moorpark converted on fourth and six when quarterback Bryan Paul completed a play-action pass to fullback Jose Ceja to move the ball to the Fillmore 33-yard-line with 4:53 remaining.
A last-chance effort by Fillmore (0-2) was stopped when Gabriel Ocegueda fumbled after catching a pass for a 14-yard gain. Moorpark took over with 1:03 remaining at its 24.
Ocegueda rushed for 90 yards in 11 carries, including an eight-yard touchdown run. He also caught a 55-yard pass from James Cummings in the first half.
Cummings rushed for 92 yards in 12 carries, including a 52-yard dash in the second quarter. He also completed 12 of 19 passes for 131 yards and a touchdown.
Paul, Moorpark’s junior quarterback, tied the score with a three-yard run on fourth and goal late in the third quarter. He finished with 66 yards in seven carries and completed eight of 12 passes for 125 yards with no interceptions.
