RESTAURANTS AND RETAIL : Ralphs, Food 4 Less Employees Wonder Where They’ll Work After the Merger
- Share via
Supermarket signs aren’t the only things changing now that Ralphs Grocery Co., headquartered in Compton, is being merged with La Habra-based Food 4 Less.
During a Friday news conference at the Food 4 Less headquarters building, a handful of employees acknowledged that they’re uncertain where they’ll be working after the merger.
But a number of jobs will be transferred to Ralph’s massive Compton headquarters and warehouse facility. Food 4 Less President and Chief Operating Officer George Golleher, who’s been named vice chairman of the merged companies, will be making the drive to Compton as the chains are consolidated.
Golleher now faces a 90-mile round trip from his Laguna Beach home to the La Habra office. The commute to Compton will be four miles shorter, but Golleher said he expects the traffic to be noticeably heavier.
