LAS VEGAS — Scott Hoch rode six consecutive birdies into a two-shot lead over three golfers Thursday after two rounds of the 90-hole Las Vegas Invitational.
Hoch took the lead of the $1.5-million tournament with an eight-under-par 63 at the Las Vegas Hilton course.
Hoch, who won this five-day, three-course tournament in 1989, completed 36 holes in 129 and will take a 14-under total into his last three rounds at the TPC at Summerlin.
The format calls for the 144 pros to play one round on each of three courses before the field is cut for the final two rounds at the TPC at Summerlin.
Dudley Hart shot a 66 and was tied for second at 131 with Dan Forsman and Jim Furyk. Forsman and Furyk each shot 64.
Greg Norman, who is playing in this event in order to have enough rounds to qualify for the Vardon Trophy, shot 69 for 136 and continues to lead the season race for the low scoring average.
