NORTH HOLLYWOOD : Hope in Youth Class Counts 13 Graduates
- Share via
After 12 weeks of workshops in building self-confidence, improving communication and learning how to make schools and neighborhoods safer, 13 participants of the parenting empowerment class offered by Hope in Youth--a countywide gang-prevention and parent involvement program--will graduate next week.
Hope in Youth developed the class, which is offered at more than 40 locations in Los Angeles, to form a support network for parents, especially those who are recent immigrants.
Several teen-agers, also in Hope in Youth, will be recognized for their help as child-care providers while their parents were taking the class.
Parent organizer Araceli Reyes said students who attended the class at Valley Lutheran Church included teen-agers and a mother of five.
