Diana Visits American Red Cross Headquarters

WASHINGTON — Princess Diana paid a private visit to American Red Cross headquarters Friday, extending a scheduled half an hour meeting with the group’s president, Elizabeth Hanford Dole.
The two discussed ways the American and British Red Cross can work together to drum up more aid for victims of disasters and conflicts around the world.
Diana arrived in Washington late Thursday after spending a day in New York City. In Washington, she is staying with a friend, Lucia Flecha de Lima, wife of Brazilian Ambassador Paolo Tarso Flecha de Lima.
