Frank Nakamura’s Ah Sigh returned from a two-month layoff to win the first of six trials to the $180,000 Ed Burke Memorial Futurity by two lengths.
Under John Creager, Ah Sigh paid $3.00 to win. Runninbac returned $4.00 and $3.60 and Alibis Assets paid $3.40.
The extremely fast winning time of 17.57 seconds for the 350 yards guarantees the Charlie Bloomquist-trainee a spot in the Nov. 4 final.
By comparison, Chenilles Dasher won her trial in 17.73 in the next race on the card Friday night.
The victory was the fifth for Ah Sigh, who previously won the Miss Kindergarten Futurity and finished third in the Governor’s Cup Futurity, her only career defeat.
