The Warriors are supposed to be rebuilding after surprising everybody by tying Sonora for the league championship (as well as being the only league team to beat Sonora). But Hardeman sounds as if he expects Troy to make another run at the Raiders. And why not? Hardeman had only three returning players on last year’s squad, and Troy was supposed to be rebuilding then, too. “My philosophy is if you’re a younger kid on the varsity, you’ll play a lot,” Hardeman said. “And unless you’re in my top eight by your junior year, you’re not going to be on varsity.” He will have four returning players in the mix--one of them, Sand, is an all-league performer. Troy loves to shoot from outside; the Warriors hope to make the three-point shot a weapon, and will do it from a spread-offense formation that is designed to negate their smaller size and take advantage of their speed. “We can go inside, but there we have to be patient,” Hardeman said. Still, Hardeman said, defense will ultimately determine the Warriors’ standing. That, and finding a way to beat Sonora again
