CALABASAS/AGOURA HILLS : $2 Million OKd for New Park, Center

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved a plan to transfer $2 million in county park funds to a community center in Agoura Hills and a new park in Calabasas.
The funds are what remains of $3 million set aside by a county park bond measure to refurbish a recreation center in Calabasas.
The center, the Ed Edelman Recreation Center, cost much less than projected, however, said Joel Bellman, spokesman for Supervisor Ed Edelman, who was a key proponent of the 1992 bond measure that established a fund for county parks.
The planned Calabasas/Agoura Hills Community Center, which will be located next to the Lost Hills/Malibu sheriff’s station, and Juan DeAnza Park, which is planned for an area adjoining Malibu State Park, will each get $1.07 million.
