Woman Killed, 2 Children Injured in Crash on Base

CAMP PENDLETON — A woman was killed and two children were injured Friday when their car rolled over on Basilone Road, base officials said.
The victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 7:45 a.m., will not be publicly identified until family members are notified, according to Sgt. William Crews.
The two children were treated by base ambulance and fire crews, assisted by emergency personnel from San Clemente. They were taken to the trauma center at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo.
Authorities said no other vehicles were involved, and the cause of the crash is under investigation.
