Smith Leaves Dick Clark Productions for MCA

Arthur Smith is leaving Dick Clark Productions to become senior vice president at MCA Television Group.
Smith had been senior vice president at Clark’s production company, which he joined in 1990. Smith is expected to work on program development and production as well as developing pay-per-view events for Universal Pay Television.
* Rysher Entertainment promoted Tim Helfet to president, Ira Bernstein to president of domestic syndication, Jim Burke to executive vice president and Rick Meril to senior vice president-general sales manager.
* Gerry Farrell has been named executive vice president of marketing and strategic planning for Twentieth Television.
* Blake Thomas was named senior vice president-marketing for MGM/UA Home Entertainment. Separately, MGM Worldwide Television named Crag Roessler vice president-creative affairs and Mike Sandoval was named senior vice president-creative of MGM/UA Music.
* Saban Entertainment named Mark Pinsker vice president, on-air promotion, and Mark Atkinson director, worldwide technical services.
* Turner Interactive appointed Bonnie Lewis vice president, licensing.
* William R. Pitts Jr. was named vice president for government affairs, Capital Cities/ABC.
* Jonathan D. Shapiro was appointed chief executive of CST Entertainment.
* Arnold Robinson was promoted to senior account executive at Rogers & Cowan.
* A&M; Records named Chuck Bliziotis vice president, East Coast operations, and Jim Phelan vice president of artists and repertoire.
* Joseph Marich Jr. joined entertainment public relations firm Rachel McCallister & Associates as director of the company’s new literary division.
* Westrex named Chris Ricks president and chief executive and Russell Chesley marketing director.
* Michael Roth was named director, national promotions and marketing, for Planet Hollywood.
* Deane J. Marcus was appointed vice president, strategic planning and business development for Warner Music Group.
* Jonathan Levin was named president of Spelling Television, where he previously was a creative consultant.
* Terry Thoren was named chief executive and president of Klasky Csupo animation studio.
* Sy Shapiro was named vice president of domestic syndication for Prism Pictures’ new syndication division.
* Jeffrey Manoff has been named vice president and Eastern sales manager of Premier Advertiser Sales, the in-house advertising sales department of Paramount Domestic Television.
