BURBANK : Recycle Yule Trees at Drop-Off Points
- Share via
Burbank officials are asking residents to recycle their Christmas trees at one of several citywide locations in the weeks following the holidays.
The city will not, as in past years, have special alley/curbside collections to pick up trees this year but rather has scheduled five sites where residents can drop them off for composting, said spokeswoman Cinda Cates.
Trees can be dropped off between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Dec. 27 through Dec. 31 and Jan. 3 through Jan. 7.
Sites available for tree drop-off are Brace Canyon Park, 2800 Haven Way; Verdugo Park, 3201 W. Verdugo Ave.; McCambridge Park, 1515 N. Glenoaks Blvd.; Ralph Foy Park, 3200 W. Victory Blvd.; and Izay/Olive Park, 1111 W. Olive Ave.
Residents who have been supplied with green recycle containers by the city have another option. They can cut up their trees--after making sure that ornaments, lights and stands have been removed--and place them in the containers for pickup on their regular collection days.
Recycled trees will be turned into mulch and composting material. Flocked trees cannot be composted and should be put in residents’ black refuse containers, officials said.
The Burbank recycling program, in its fifth year, recycled 78 tons of Christmas trees last year. For more information, call the sanitation division at (818) 953-6622.
