Biopool Given FDA OK to Market Drug-Testing Device

Biopool International Inc., based in Ventura, has received Food and Drug Administration approval to market a new device used in substance-abuse testing.
The device, called a calibrator, was developed to be used with a system produced by U. S. Drug Testing Inc. of Rancho Cucamonga.
The system, which screens for amphetamine, cocaine, morphine and other commonly abused drugs, is expected to be launched commercially in mid-1995.
Biopool, founded in 1987, produces kits to test for blood and vascular system disorders.
