George Engbrecht took over as dean of students at Hoover High School in Glendale on Tuesday.
Engbrecht, dean of students at Van Nuys High School for 14 years, replaces Doug Dall, who left Hoover to become a vice principal at Glendale High School last year.
Engbrecht, who grew up in Canyon Country, has a bachelor’s degree in health science and physical education from Cal State Northridge and a master’s degree in education administration from Cal State Los Angeles.
In 1991, Engbrecht participated in a program sponsored by Seoul National University of Korea to help American educators improve their understanding of the Korean culture, school district officials said.
