Westward Ho Markets to Close 2 Stores: The company said it plans to close two of its four Southern California grocery markets as part of the company’s bankruptcy reorganization plan. Jerry Preston, chief executive of Brentwood-based Westward Ho Markets Inc., said the company’s stores on Sepulveda Boulevard in Sherman Oaks and on National Boulevard in West Los Angeles are expected to be closed within two weeks and that those stores’ stock will be discounted 25% starting Thursday. Mrs. Gooch’s Whole Foods Market, a grocery chain based in Sherman Oaks, has agreed to buy the leases for the two sites for more than $3 million, Preston said. A spokeswoman for Mrs. Gooch’s said the two Westward Ho sites will reopen as Mrs. Gooch’s stores in 1996.
