VENTURA : Youth Symphony Holding Auditions

The Ventura County Youth Symphony is holding auditions today for the spring performance season, and musicians under age 18 are encouraged to attend.

Auditions for violinists will begin at 5 p.m., and all other string players will audition at 6 p.m. Musicians playing woodwind, brass or percussion instruments will try out at 7 p.m.

Auditions will be held at Anacapa Middle School in Ventura at Mills and Telegraph roads, and consist of a short prepared piece of music, scales and sight reading.

Rehearsals for the 40-member symphony are held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday nights at Anacapa Middle School. Spring rehearsals will begin Jan. 24. For more information, call 639-0332.
