Rain Forecast Today Through Middle of Week

Rain is expected to return to the Los Angeles area by tonight at the latest, with showers continuing throughout the region until at least midweek, forecasters said Saturday.
“The storms will be extended, rather than really intense,” said Kris Farnsworth, a meteorologist with WeatherData Inc., which provides forecasts for The Times. “It will be more wet than dry the early part of this week.”
The wet weather will come with a Pacific storm that is expected to stall just off the coast and send disturbances into the upper atmosphere over much of the region, producing sporadic rainfall, Farnsworth said.
The first in a series of storms moved through the area late Friday and Saturday, but had brought just 0.01 inch of rain to the Los Angeles Civic Center by Saturday afternoon.
