Cut Puts Shaq on the Bench

ORLANDO, Fla. — Shaquille O’Neal, the NBA’s leading scorer, suffered a cut on his left heel from a broken glass in his kitchen and was sidelined for Saturday night’s game against Milwaukee.
O’Neal, who is averaging 29.7 points per game, suffered an inch-long cut in the mishap at his home Friday night. It did not require stitches but the injury hampers his running.
“It’s not serious,” Magic spokesman Alex Martins said. “He wanted to play, but it hurts him when he runs. It’s strictly a one-game thing.”
The 7-foot-1 center declined comment in the locker room before the game, answering a question about his condition with only a thumbs-up and a smile.
With O’Neal out, the starting assignment went to 7-foot-1, 39-year-old reserve center Tree Rollins.
