COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Saddleback Hitters Have a Field Day in 16-3 Victory

Saddleback College got eight hits, including four home runs from its first four hitters, as the Gauchos beat Mt. San Jacinto, 16-3, in a Cypress baseball tournament game Saturday in Mission Viejo.
Lorne Rosas had three hits, including an inside-the-park home run, scored four runs and drove two for the Gauchos. Ryan Johnson hit a home run, a triple and drove in two runs, Pat Antrim had a single and a three-run homer and Sam Voita had a two-run homer. Ace Bedich had two hits, including a two-run double, for the Gauchos.
Saddleback scored six runs in the first and two more in the second to take an 8-2 lead. Ken Dolan gave up two runs in the first inning but none in the next four for the victory. He had five strikeouts.
In other Cypress tournament games:
Saddleback 12, Antelope Valley 5--Bobby Sprain gave up one run on five hits and struck out eight in seven innings for Saddleback (6-2), which finished the tournament 4-0. Graham Mazur had two home runs and five runs batted in for Saddleback.
Cypress 10, Victor Valley 3--Cory Dean-Yeager had a double, a home run and two RBIs for Cypress (9-1). In an earlier game Cypress fell to Pima (Ariz.), 7-3.
Golden West 7, Antelope Valley 5--Ken Miles hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth to lead Golden West (3-4). The Rustlers rallied from a four-run deficit, scoring one in the fourth, three in the fifth and two in the ninth.
Golden West 17, Mt. San Jacinto 15--Ken Miles had a two-run single in the sixth inning to cap a six-run sixth for Golden West (4-4).
In the Arizona Mesa tournament:
Fullerton 8, Mesa (Ariz.) 3--Chad Smith had three RBIs for Fullerton (7-0). Pitcher Scott Parsonage got his second victory.
Fullerton 20, Cochise 3 (5 innings, mercy rule)--James Jekums went three for three with four RBIs as Fullerton (8-0) won the pool-play tournament.
In the Hancock tournament:
Rancho Santiago 11, Cabrillo 2--Brandon Henrikx gave up two unearned runs on two hits in six innings, and struck out nine to improve to 2-0 for Rancho Santiago (7-0) in pool play. Ryan Fullerton had a two-run home run in the first inning and Toby Sanchez added two doubles and two RBIs.
Fullerton hit a three-run home run in the first inning of the first game, helping the Dons to an 8-1 victory over Hancock. Kirk Irvine struck out four and gave up one unearned run on two hits in eight innings to improve to 2-0.
In the Southwestern Apache Classic:
Orange Coast 11, San Bernardino Valley 6--Robert Caton’s two-run double in the eighth inning put visiting Orange Coast ahead for good. Caton had three hits and three RBIs for Orange Coast (4-5) in pool play. Deric Yanagisawa had a home run in Orange Coast’s 9-3 loss to Southwestern.
In the Apple Photo softball tournament:
Cypress 6, Chaffey 1--Rocky Breig, Christa Saindon and Breanna Yoshima each had two hits for Cypress in the semifinals.
The Chargers (3-0) play Palomar at 9:45 a.m. today at Cypress for the tournament championship.
