TUJUNGA : Health Screenings Offered to Seniors

A Healthy Heart Day has been planned for senior citizens at the North Valley Nursing Center in Tujunga in cooperation with the Community Action Network.
The event, to be held March 20, will feature Doug Brignole, who won the Mr. America and Mr. Universe titles in 1986. He is the owner of Brignole’s Health Club in Pasadena.
Those attending can have their blood pressure and heart rate checked and their blood tested for cholesterol and glucose. Hearing also can be checked.
Although the event is targeted at the community’s senior citizens, others also are welcome, said Jacqui Merglewski, president of the Community Action Network. This is the second health event the community group has held with the North Valley Nursing Center.
“We both have the goal of improving the quality of life for senior citizens,” Merglewski said.
The North Valley Nursing Center is located at 7660 Wyngate St., Tujunga. The event runs from noon to 3 p.m.
