As in every other playoff game this season, Buena took over early.

The Bulldogs led, 16-5, after one quarter, then opened it up to 29-12 at halftime before coasting to their 21st consecutive victory.

Much can be attributed to a tenacious defense which forced 21 turnovers and allowed the Cowgirls to make only 27% of their shots (11 of 40).

“Defensively, we were terrific,” said Coach Joe Vaughan, who has guided Buena to 11 title games in 21 seasons. “This is a great experience for the kids.”
