San Diego’s Harris Scores 35 Points, Toreros Surge Past Northridge, 90-80

SAN DIEGO — University of San Diego guard Doug Harris scored a career-high 35 points to lead the Toreros to a 90-80 nonconference victory over Cal State Northridge Tuesday night before 577 at the USD Sports Center.
Harris scored 21 points in the first half and sparked a 16-2 run at the start of the game. Northridge tied the score, 41-41, just before halftime, but San Diego went on a 19-5 spree to start the second half.
San Diego (11-15), which faces Gonzaga in the opening round of the West Coast Conference tournament Saturday, had lost seven of its previous eight games. Sean Flannery supported Harris with 18 points and Brian Bruso added 13 off the bench.
Mike Dorsey reached double figures in scoring and rebounding for the fifth time, accounting for 23 points and a game-high 10 rebounds for Northridge (7-18). He also made four steals, including three on successive trips down the floor late in the game.
Ryan Martin added 17 points in 23 minutes off the bench for the Matadors. Shawn Stone had 12 points.
