Weather forecasters are predicting more light showers across Orange County today.
Scattered showers were expected to begin by as early as 5 a.m. but are expected to taper off by midafternoon, according to James McCutcheon, a meteorologist with WeatherData.
A daylong drizzle on Thursday left one-tenth of an inch of rain in Santa Ana.
The drizzle should yield to partly cloudy skies by this evening, with high temperatures in the high 50s and low 60s.
“This isn’t really a big storm situation,” McCutcheon said.
Thursday’s light rains and drizzle caused additional car accidents, according to Peter Gustafson with the California Highway Patrol.
“The drizzle wasn’t really a big factor Thursday,” said Gustafson. “We get more accidents when the heavy stuff comes down and leaves standing water on the freeways.”
