Girls’ City 3-A: The Cavaliers manage only four shots on goal.
The Cleveland High girls’ soccer team lost to Hamilton, 3-0, Saturday in the City Section Division 3-A City championship match at East Los Angeles College.
Cleveland, a first-year program, surrendered a pair of second-half goals to Hamilton forward Heather Nash.
The Cavaliers (8-7) could muster only four shots on goal against Hamilton (10-4-1).
Hamilton forward Magdalena Mesa opened the scoring four minutes into the match, redirecting a cross from the right wing into the net.
Nash scored her first goal in the 44th minute and added her second in the 67th, dribbling into the penalty area and beating Cleveland goalie Jessica McElroy from close range both times.
