Facts and Figures: Mater Dei is seeking a rare triple, winning Southern Section titles in football, basketball and baseball the same school school year. Leading the offense is shortstop Brad Ticehurst, who batted .438 last season. . . . Trabuco Hills is ready to step up should Mater Dei falter, and Capistrano Valley should battle for a playoff spot. . . . Chris Toomey of Dana Hills will pull double duty in the outfield (.343, five homers) and on the mound (1-5, 3.82). . . . San Clemente graduated 11 seniors and has a new coaching staff. . . . Mission Viejo, which also has a new coaching staff, should be improved.

Highlights: Mater Dei, which won the league title by two games, was beaten by Lakewood, 8-5, in the Division I quarterfinals. Capistrano Valley lost to Rowland, 9-2, and El Toro to El Dorado, 4-2, in the first round of the playoffs. . . . Mater Dei pitcher Adam Harris (Stanford), who was 8-1 with a 0.60 ERA and a no-hitter, was league MVP.. . . Dana Hills’ Seth Etherton (USC) finished second in the county in strikeouts (99).
