An aviation walk of fame will be inaugurated in Westchester Central Business District in a ceremony next week.
The event, hosted by Brig. Gen. Charles E. Yeager, the first pilot to fly faster than the speed of sound, will mark the opening of Flight Path, a sidewalk display of plaques, memorabilia and art on aerospace history. Flight Path is the first phase of a project to build an aerospace learning center next to LAX.
Yeager and eight other aviation pioneers, including Amelia Earhart and Charles Lindbergh, will be honored in plaques.
The ceremony starts at 10:30 a.m. March 16 at 89th Street and Sepulveda Boulevard in Westchester.
