Sow for transplanting: artichoke, basils, cardoon, celeriac, celery, leaf celery, celtuce, corn, okra, tomatillos, tomatoes.
Sow in the ground: arugula, beets, burdock, carrots, celtuce, chard, chervil, Chinese cabbage (non-heading), collards, corn salad, curled cress, fava beans, lettuce, parsley, peas, radishes, spinach.
Plant: asparagus, heading broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, celtuce, Chinese artichokes, garlic, horseradish, Jerusalem artichokes, lettuces, potatoes, rhubarb, shallots, all strawberries.
Harvest: arugula, sprouting broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, chard, chervil, chives, endive, Jerusalem artichokes, kale, komatsuna (mustard spinach), lavender, leeks, lettuce, marjoram, mizuna, onions, parsley, parsnips, radishes, rhubarb, rosemary, rosette pak choi, rutabagas, sage, salsify/scorzonera, spinach, thyme, turnips.
HIGH DESERT
Sow for transplanting: okra, peppers, summer squash, tomatillos, tomatoes, watermelons.
Sow in ground: all of Coastal Climates, plus turnips.
Plant: asparagus, cardoon, celeriac, all celeries, chard, potatoes.
Harvest: celeriac, celery, chard, chervil, cilantro, kale, onions, parsley, pea shoots, radishes, turnips.
LOW DESERT
Sow for transplanting: all of High Desert, plus sweet potato slips.
Sow in ground: common beans, cucumbers, summer squash.
Plant: cucumbers, eggplants, melons, rhubarb, tomatillos, tomatoes, watermelons.
Harvest: sprouting broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celeriac, celery, chard, cilantro, kale, lettuce, komatsuna (mustard spinach), mizuna, onions, parsley, radishes, spinach, turnips.
INTERIOR CLIMATES (where fuchsias won’t grow)
Sow for transplanting: chard, cucumbers, melons, okra, peppers, all squashes, sweet potato slips, tomatillos, tomatoes, watermelons.
Sow in ground: common beans, beets, carrots, leaf celery, Chinese cabbage (non-heading), collards, corn, curled cress, radishes.
Plant: artichokes, asparagus, cardoon, celery, onion sets, potatoes, rhubarb, all strawberries.
Harvest: beets, carrots, chard, chives, Chinese chives, komatsuna (mustard spinach), lavender, lettuce, marjoram, mizuna, onions, oregano, parsley, radishes, rosemary, sage, spinach, thyme.
INTERIOR CLIMATES (where fuchsias grow with difficulty)
Sow for transplanting: all of non-fuchsia interior climates, plus celtuce, lettuces.
Sow in ground: all of non-fuchsia interior climates, plus arugula, chard, celtuce, lettuces, spinach.
Plant: all of Non-Fuchsia Interior Climates, plus heading broccoli.
Harvest: all of Non-Fuchsia Interior Climates, plus sprouting broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, peas, pea shoots.
MOUNTAINS--above 6,000-foot elevation
Sow for transplanting: beets, heading broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, celeriac, celery, chard, collards.
Plant under cover: cabbage, chard.
Harvest under shelter: cabbage, chervil, lettuce, kale, komatsuna (mustard spinach), hardy mustards, onions, spinach, thyme.
MOUNTAINS--6,000-foot elevation and below
Sow for transplanting: all of high mountains, plus artichoke, cardoon, celtuce, Chinese cabbage, leeks, lettuces, onions, all strawberries.
Sow outdoors under cover: arugula, carrots, fava beans, peas.
Plant under cover: all of high mountains plus heading broccoli, cauliflower.
Harvest under shelter: all of high mountains plus sage.
KEY
Sow: seeds.
Plant: seedlings, bulbs, corms, crowns, tubers.
